The Division 2: How to trigger the hidden Hunter boss fights and earn their masks

Back during The Division’s heyday, some of the game’s most coveted cosmetic items were the special masks players could unlock through limited-time special events. Developer Ubisoft has brought unlockable masks back for The Division 2, but the process for unlocking them is a bit different in the sequel. To unlock The Division 2’s 12 different masks players must first defeat unique Hunter bosses which spawn out in the game’s open world. However, the Hunter bosses don’t just spawn on their own. Triggering each Hunter fight requires the fulfillment of certain hidden criteria, criteria which we’ve explained in the guide below. Each Hunter boss fight is slightly different from the rest, but they all share some common traits and behaviors. For one thing, they’re all incredibly hard to take down. We advise not even attempting the fights until you’ve reached the level cap of 30, and only then if you’ve got some excellent endgame gear and/or some friends backing you up.
