Some automotive legends never die because their legacy continues on. This 1970 Mercedes-Benz 280SL is such a vehicle. Even today, the SL moniker stands for the best roadster the brand offers. Now you have the chance to own an exceptional example of the legacy. This fine machine is being offered for purchase through Frazier Motorcar Company. Honestly, this car is about as clean as it can get. Considering it was owned by a Mercedes specialist for the past 31 years, there’s a good reason for that. According to the seller there’s zero rust present and the car doesn’t have a history of rust, which is phenomenal. On top of that, the white paint is impeccable, while the aluminum body panels are extremely straight and panel gaps are perfect. All the chrome is blemish-free. A soft top and removable hard top come with this car, and both are in excellent condition. All the glass is free of cracks, chips, and pitting. To say this ride shows well would be an understatement. You’d expect a Mercedes-Benz to be luxurious, and for 1970 this car most certainly is. The original Bamboo seats are supple and well-padded, so you feel like you’re lounging on a fine couch. Factory air conditioning will...

Zacks.com featured highlights include: Avon Products, Hallmark Financial Services, DHI, Anglo American and Toray Industries

Chicago, IL – June 21, 2019 – Stocks in this week’s article are Avon Products, Inc. AVP, Hallmark Financial Services, Inc. HALL, DHI Group, Inc. DHX, Anglo American plc NGLOY and Toray Industries, Inc. TRYIY.  Selecting breakout stocks is probably one of the most favored techniques among active investors. The idea behind this kind of stock selection is to determine stocks that are trading within a narrow channel. These stocks are to be bought as soon as they move above this band and sold when they fall below. In case a stock moves above this band, it usually gains momentum. The first step to selecting the right breakout stock is to calculate its support and resistance level. A support level is the lower bound for stock movements while a resistance level refers to the maximum price which it trades within over a considerable period. In other words, the demand for a stock is at its lowest at its support level, which means most traders are willing to sell it. At the resistance level, most traders are willing to go long on the stock, which means that they would like to add them to their portfolios. The key to identifying breakout stocks is to zero in on those that are on the ve...

OFS says it has introduced two new fiber-optic cable families enabled by the company’s new rollable

OFS says it has introduced two new fiber-optic cable families enabled by the company’s new rollable ribbon technology. They include the AccuTube+ Rollable Ribbon (RR) fiber-optic cable and rollable ribbon versions of its indoor/outdoor AccuRiser fiber cable line. In the rollable ribbon cable, 12 fibers are connected intermittently by matrix material to form a flexible ribbon. This enables the ribbons to be rolled into tight bundles, which doubles the cable’s fiber density, OFS says. Installers can then unroll these fibers into a ribbon that can be spliced with traditional flat ribbon machines and procedures. OFS asserts that rollable ribbon cable offers space efficiency and fiber density improvements over traditional ribbon cable approaches. “Users can enjoy the significant time and cost savings benefits of 12-fiber mass fusion splicing, as compared with single fiber splicing, while getting the ...

High-efficiency large-area perovskite photovoltaic modules achieved via electrochemically assembled metal-filamentary nanoelectrodes

Realizing industrial-scale, large-area photovoltaic modules without any considerable performance losses compared with the performance of laboratory-scale, small-area perovskite solar cells (PSCs) has been a challenge for practical applications of PSCs. Highly sophisticated patterning processes for achieving series connections, typically fabricated using printing or laser-scribing techniques, cause unexpected efficiency drops and require complicated manufacturing processes. We successfully fabricated high-efficiency, large-area PSC modules using a new electrochemical patterning process. The intrinsic ion-conducting features of perovskites enabled us to create metal-filamentary nanoelectrodes to facilitate the monolithic serial interconnections of PSC modules. By fabricating planar-type PSC modules through low-temperature annealing and all-solution processing, we demonstrated a notably high module efficiency of 14.0% for a total area of 9.06 cm2 with a high geometric fill factor of 94.1%. The unprecedented features of organic-inorganic hybrid perovskite semiconductors, which allow low-temperature crystal film growth from their precursor solutions, have greatly promoted both scient...

Graphite Electrodes – Worldwide Market by Application, Electrode Grade and Geography (2019-2024)

DUBLIN–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Mar 14, 2019–The “Graphite Electrodes Market – Segmented by Application, Electrode Grade, and Geography – Growth, Trends, and Forecast (2019 – 2024)” report has been added to ResearchAndMarkets.com’s offering. The graphite market is expected to grow at a significant rate during the forecast period, majorly driven by the augmenting demand from burgeoning lithium-ion battery industry. Uncoated spherical graphite, coated spherical graphite (CSPG) and lithium-ion anode paste are imperative as anode material in lithium ion batteries for mobile consumer appliances, electric vehicles and stationary energy storages. The three main demand drivers for CSPG include transportation batteries (significant growth), stationary or commercial or utility grid-storage batteries (exponential growth), and consumer electronics batteries (moderate growth). The current consumption for Li-ion batteries is 105,000 tons (60,000 natural CSPG and 45,000 synthetic). As there is no CSPG production in North America, two United States based graphite companies, Graphite One and Alabama Graphite have included facilities for turning graphite concentrate int...

FOUND: Social media helps woman find owner of ring lost in Myrtle Beach

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WMBF) – It was the search of a lifetime for one family in Kentucky, who were on a mission to return a lost ring they found while on vacation in Myrtle Beach to its rightful owner. The ring was found by Cristy Hill in the ocean surf between 9th and 10th Avenue South on Ocean Boulevard near the Captains Quarters Resort. The ring had several names engraved on it which caused Cristy to believe the ring might belong to a mother. After having no luck finding the owner while they were on vacation, she decided to go to social media where the missing ring would go viral with more than 200,000 shares. On Wednesday afternoon, nearly a week after the ring was found, Hill got the message she was hoping for. Cristy received a Facebook message stating the ring belonged to Stephanie Wood, living in Gastonia, North Carolina. Wood had lost the ring on their first day of vacation last week, and was staying at the Days Inn right across the street from where the ring was found. “As soon as we got to the beach, my instinct was, ‘I want to be out in the ocean,’ and in a matter of two waves it was gone,” said Wood. To prove the ring’s rightful owner, Hill wanted the owner to ...

Exploring Alternative Biomaterials for Diagnosis of Pulmonary Tuberculosis in HIV-Negative Patients by Use of the GeneXpert MTB/RIF Assay

The utility of the GeneXpert MTB/RIF (Xpert) assay for detection of Mycobacterium tuberculosis in sputum samples has been extensively studied. However, the performance of the Xpert assay as applied to other readily accessible body fluids such as exhaled breath condensate (EBC), saliva, urine, and blood has not been established. We used the Xpert assay to test EBC, saliva, urine, and blood samples from HIV-negative, smear- and culture-positive pulmonary tuberculosis (TB) patients for the presence of M. tuberculosis. To compare the ability of the assay to perform bacterial load measurements on sputum samples with versus without sample processing, the assay was also performed on paired direct and processed sputum samples from each patient. The Xpert assay detected M. tuberculosis in none of the 26 EBC samples (sensitivity, 0.0%; 95% confidence interval [95% CI], 0.0%, 12.9%), 10 of the 26 saliva samples (sensitivity, 38.5%; 95% CI, 22.4%, 57.5%), 1 of 26 urine samples (sensitivity, 3.8%; 95% CI, 0.7%, 18.9%), and 2 of 24 blood samples (sensitivity, 8.3%; 95% CI, 2.3%, 25.8%). For bacterial load measurements in the different types of sputum samples, the cycle thresholds of the two M...

River Bank battery review: modular, powerful, and full of ports

There’s nothing duller than a portable battery in the chromed and colorful world of consumer electronics. They’re thick dense slabs of lithium-ion cells we carry not because we want to, but because we have to. So what if I told you there’s a long-lasting battery with as much gadget appeal as Google’s doomed Project Ara? Meet the modular 94Wh / 25,600mAh River Bank from battery upstarts EcoFlow. It doesn’t look like a typical battery — because it’s not. It can charge up to five devices simultaneously or act as a three-port USB hub while charging your laptop. Attach a stackable second 44Wh / 12,000mAh booster module to create an even bigger battery with a sixth charging port that’s still suitable for airline travel. Hell, it can even jump start your car. Over the last few months I’ve tested a River Bank on trips through the ice and snow of the Austrian Alps, the brutal dunes of the Sahara Desert, and the tawdry coffee houses in the space between. And you know what? I’ve become smitten with a lowly battery. Let’s start with the charging capabilities of the main River Bank module. Its 94Wh of capacity will be more than enough for most people, and features two fast-charging 60W USB-C...
